Thomas G. Beley PhD, LCSW

The Science of Addiction

Executive Director of Palm Healthcare, the parent company of a number of innovative treatment facilities specializing in evidenced based holistic interventions in the treatment of addiction and emotional disorders. His area of clinical expertise has focused on the integration of neurobiology, behavior, and healing into the recovery process.  He received his undergraduate degree from State University of New York at Albany, his MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va., his PhD from Barry University in Miami, Fl., and post graduate training in family systems therapy at the Georgetown Family Center in Washington, DC.

Morgan Blackledge, M.A., LMFT

Working Recovery

Morgan is a practicing Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has been with KLEAN Treatment Centers for the past two years. Morgan received his BA in Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute and after 15 years in the media and film development industry, he discovered his passion for clinical work and went back to receive his Masters in Clinical Psychology from The University of the West with strong emphasis on mindfulness based psychotherapy orientations. Morgan is also currently working towards his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology while also acting as an adjunct professor for The University of the West.


Romana Brigante, LMSW

Romana is a Business Development specialist of 5 years at Sigmund, and has Masters Degree training in Social Work from Adelphi University, graduating in 2009. She has over eight years of experience working with adults and adolescents with acute psychiatric disorders and addiction. Romana specializes in the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorders, Eating Disorders, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders. With vast experience with training staff on client diagnoses, interventions, managing counter-transference, as well as creating group treatment curriculums, Romana has been able to successfully leverage her experience in the field to provide a consultative approach to software purchasing and assist with software requirements analysis, workflow mapping, and providing instruction on how to navigate organizational change management issues. 


John Burns

EHR Implementation: Lessons Learned

Director of Implementations and EHR Subject Matter Expert. John has been with Sigmund Software since 2004 and has participated and led all major implementations of Sigmund Software, including American Addiction Centers, Caron Treatment Centers, and Origins Recovery Centers.  John is an expert both on the product platform as well as best practices for leveraging the Sigmund product line to improve efficiency and automation. 

Steve Cline

As Deputy Director Field Operations Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, Steve has been working with the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids to empower families with answers for over 15 years. He brings a wealth of experience with a background in broadcasting and advertising. Steve has worked for a variety of television stations in North Carolina and New England and served in new business, account management and strategic marketing capacities for several advertising agencies in the mid-Atlantic. So he really understands how to tap into individuals and consumers and ensure the Partnership’s value resonates.

Stephanie Edrington, RN, CPC, CPMA, CPCO

Managing and Mastering Managed Care Contracts

Stephanie graduated from Loyola University, Chicago and is an advisory council member for multiple organizations throughout the medical and medical billing network. She has over 15 years of experience in the Revenue Cycle Management field as well as clinical and hospital nursing background. Stephanie has extensive EHR and practice management experience and speaks nationally for technology and service providers, with 10+ years of experience in contracts and negotiations with Managed Care plans.


Jessica Gagnon

Using Your EHR to Manage KPIs

Jessica has extensive experience supporting the technological and work-flow needs for Addiction Treatment Providers.  As the EHR Manager for American Addiction Centers, Jessica provides requirements analysis, workflow configuration and testing, training and internal support services for all facilities across the country.  In addition to supporting the diverse and comprehensive EHR needs of American Addiction Centers, Jessica is also an expert in the implementation and administration of CRM tools for Addiction Treatment Providers.

Carl Green

Carl Green is the graphic designer for the VSS Medical Technologies group. A man wearing many hats, he has for the past five years managed and maintained the web presences and social media accounts for the VSS group of companies. Also, his creative writing drives the Sigmund Blog, and his design skills are among other things responsible for the iconic Sigmund Software advertising campaigns, the Aura user interface icons, and the SoFlo event logo. Carl will be mingling with guests wearing his event photographer hat, informally documenting the SoFlo conference on camera in photographs and video. He looks forward to meeting guests and discussing their experience of the conference. For your fifteen minutes of fame, be sure to seek out Carl.


CJ Haviland

CJ is a Tier 2 Software Support Specialist, working with the Sigmund team since 2014. Prior to Sigmund, CJ achieved his Bachelor's degree in Information Technology from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY. Over the years, he has used his knowledge of database management, networking, and software to better work one on one with clients, troubleshooting and resolving various issues. CJ is also heavily involved with the development of new reporting and networking features in Sigmund's ground-breaking mobile environment.


Bethany Irish, LPN

Bethany joined the Sigmund team in 2016 as a Software Consultant and Trainer.  Her previous work experience is comprised of a medical background with over 10 years of Nursing, Medical Assistant and Admin EHR Super User experience. Bethany became a Licensed Practical Nurse in the states of Connecticut and New York, where she received her LPN degree from PNW BOCES in June of 2014 and was recognized for clinical excellence.  Bethany continues to keep her nursing license active and stays up to date on best practices within the field of nursing.


Michael Johnson

CARF Accreditation Value and Process

Michael Johnson is the Managing Director of Behavioral Health for CARF International, the leading accrediting body of behavioral healthcare organizations in the world.  His responsibilities include developing and maintaining standards for the behavioral health market, training and consultation to the behavioral health industry, as well as market development. Michael is passionate about the use of data and technology in our industry, and is a tireless advocate for increasing performance in behavioral health.  He possesses a Master of Arts degree in Communications and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interpersonal Communications from the University of Central Florida, and is a Certified Addictions Professional.


Beth Lengyel

Beth joined the Sigmund Software team as a Business Development Specialist at the start of 2016. Prior to her role here at Sigmund, Beth came from a clinical background where she practiced as a behavioral clinician for individuals with mental, emotional and physical disabilities alongside the State of CT.  In addition, Beth has a background in marketing and project management, with experience in market research. Beth is a graduate from the University of Connecticut where she obtained a BS in Clinical Psychology and spent four years working within the Early Detection/Optimal Outcome Autism Research Group. 


Alan S. Levine, Esq.

Florida Marchman Act

Alan S. Levine, Esq. is the founding Partner of Levine and Associates and founding co-partner of Addiction Recovery Legal Services, LLC. Mr. Levine handles complex nursing home abuse, wrongful death and personal injury litigation throughout the country, as well as representing elderly, disabled individuals and their families either privately or through court appointment in various probate proceedings hearings including incapacity and guardianship proceedings. He personally represented hundreds of individuals and families with regard to drug addiction, mental health, and criminal issues. He has lectured to various medical professionals and is an accepted expert and authority of the Florida Marchman Act.

Harry Manesis

Mr. Manesis joined Sigmund in 2005 after a sixteen year tenure with the IBM Corporation. Harry has been instrumental in evolving Sigmund strategies for software deployment, consulting and customer support management. He initially held senior corporate accounting and finance positions. He later moved on to IBM Global Services and served in both senior project manager and consultant roles, providing oversight for implementation of enterprise financial systems. Mr. Manesis is responsible for all of Sigmund's sales, development, implementation and consulting engagements, support, quality assurance and overall operations of the company.

Dug  is the VP of Training and Development for Palm Healthcare in Delray Beach, Florida.  One of his roles is to support the transformation of Palm Healthcare clients through coaching, didactic lectures, groups and breakthrough experiences. His greatest passion is to help human beings achieve their full potential and dreams; to support positive paradigm shifts in human consciousness. His training and experience have given him keen insights and skills to support his clients to “Feed their Passion, and Starve their Fear” by allowing them to discover the miracle they always already are!


Mike Milligan

The Importance of Storytelling in Healthcare Marketing

As president and owner of Legato Healthcare Marketing, Mike is actively engaged in identifying solutions to address the issues of healthcare reform and the unique challenges specific to hospitals, specialty clinics, and medical products. And while he’s represented many national clients throughout his career, his true passion is working with specialized healthcare organizations to overcome larger competitors by increasing awareness and availability of their services.  

Matthew Prete

Mr. Prete started his career at Sigmund as a Senior Software Engineer. He was the lead engineer in the development of Sigmund’s industry-leading revenue cycle management system for behavioral healthcare and addiction treatment. Over the years, Matthew has been integral in the design and development of all Sigmund software, helping to push our technology in a fast-paced environment. Matthew was promoted to Vice President of Application Development to oversee all Application Development for VSS Medical Technologies. His primary goal is building the next generation of software for the health care industry, leveraging experience from all of the companies within VSS. 


David Rideg

David has been with Sigmund for over 7 years and has been an integral part of dozens of database implementations. As the Lead Specialist of Implementation and Configuration, David works closely with clients from the time they sign their contract with Sigmund in order to ensure a proper and thorough discovery and seamless implementation, and well as working continuously with facilities after they are live with their EHR, offering help in best practices and documentation management.


Domenick Scolpini

Master of Ceremonies

Domenick is a product specialist at Sigmund Software, with extensive knowledge of the functionality in both Clinical and Financial aspects of EHR. He has worked closely with all teams in Sigmund Software, using his training in database management, user interface design, and hardware maintenence to ensure a quality, user friendly, powerful, and functional software product. Domenick also works with the entire family of VSS products, using his years of experience in Audio and Video engineering to produce informative webinars to enhance customer experience.


Angelyn Spada

Angelyn Spada joined the Sigmund Software team in 2007 working with the sales team and has since transitions to Human Resources and Office Administration. Angelyn holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from The University of Connecticut. Prior to working at Sigmund Software she used Sigmund professionally as an end user for three years at a behavioral health facility. Angelyn works closely with our client’s administration and accounts payable teams.


Philip Turner

Philip Turner was appointed President & CEO of Sigmund Software in April, 2012 and is focused on growing the business so that Sigmund increases its suite of product offerings to existing clients and plans to continue to invest in infrastructure so that the Sigmund footprint continues to grow. Born in Surrey, England in 1969, Philip attended the University of Calgary where he received a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1990, and attended the University of Toronto where he received a Master of Business Administration in 1993.  Philip is an entrepreneur and leads divisions that include medical software, point-of-sale software, hardware, leasing and real estate.


Cory Valentine

Effective Outcome Strategy

Currently the Vice President of Software Sales, Cory joined the Sigmund team in 2006 as Director of Client Development. Prior to joining Sigmund, he spent 6 years as a Behavioral Healthcare Administrator and Clinician in both Sub-Acute and Post-Acute Residential settings. Mr. Valentine’s Clinical background ranged from treating a chronic mentally ill population to addiction and dual diagnosis. Cory's background and passion in behavioral health has been paramount in both understanding organizational requirements and articulating Sigmund’s proposed product offerings. 


Jennifer Walsh, M.S. Ed

EHR Software Support Utilization

Jennifer is an expert on the Clinical, Medical and work-flow areas of the Sigmund Software. She has a MS Ed in School Psychology and has worked in the behavioral health field prior to working with Sigmund. Jennifer has extensive product support experience as well as training and project planning.  


Dr. Howard Wetsman, MD

Pharmacogenetics in Addiction Testing

Dr. Wetsman is an addiction psychiatrist who specializes in the outpatient treatment of addiction. He's the Chief Medical Officer and Founder of Townsend, a network of treatment centers across Louisiana. He is a Clinical Associate Professor at Louisiana State University, School of Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, where he serves on their Board. Dr. Wetsman will be speaking on topics such as Pharmacogenetics in Addiction Testing and How Treating Providers Should Use a Lab.


Rebecca Zissel

State Regulation of Treatment Centers and Recovery Residences: Present and Future

Rebecca is an attorney at Weiner & Thompson, PA in Delray Beach, FL.  Weiner & Thompson has represented the owners and operators of substance abuse treatment centers, licensed service providers, and the greater Recovery Community since 1986.  Rebecca joined Weiner & Thompson after working for several years in Washington, DC as a regulatory attorney.  Her practice focuses on zoning law and business and legal issues affecting the recovery provider community. She graduated from University of California, Berkeley in 2003 and the University of Michigan Law School in 2006.
